Cleaning a sauna stove
The sauna stove is an important part of the outdoor sauna’s functioning. Hence it's tremendously important to clean your electric heater or wood-fired sauna stove regularly.
Cleaning a wood-fired sauna stove
Remove ash from the ash pan
It would be useful to check that the ash pan isn’t too full prior to firing up the fire. Burning wood will gradually fill up the stove's ash pan.
Only remove the ash once the stove and the ash have cooled down.
The ash pan is easy to clean by carefully removing it from the stove. You can remove the ash with a special ash vacuum cleaner or empty the ash pan into your container.
Cleaning the stove window
There are many stove window cleaning techniques. One advocates using a moist tea bag or an HG stove spray. Never use cleaning agents such as glass cleaner, as this will burn into the glass when the stove heats up.

Cleaning an electric sauna heater
An electric heater is much more low-maintenance than a wood-fired stove. The only things you need to clean are the heater’s buttons and housing. This can be done with suds of green soap, for instance.

Replacing sauna stones
Sauna stones can become porous over time. You can check this by taking a cooled stone from the heater and giving it a firm squeeze. If it crumbles, then it’s time to replace the stones. Typically, sauna stones should be replaced every two years. Replacing the sauna stones in good time will prolong the life of your sauna heater.
