Differences between Finnish Kota brands

We have a wide range of different types of Finnish Kota, which can be used as a sauna, a barbecue house and even as rental accommodation units. Our range includes Finnish Kotas from two different brands: TICRA (our own collection) and WArt. Both are made exclusively from FSC-certified wood and built with sustainability in mind. Before we explain the differences between these brands, what actually is a Finnish Kota?

What is a Kota?

A Finnish Kota (pronounced: ‘koh-ta’) is a garden house commonly used as a sauna or barbecue house. That said, a Finnish Kota can of course be used for plenty of other purposes, such as a garden office, meditation room, rental accommodation and more. The Kotas are available in a variety of sizes, can be extended with rectangular extensions and can even be linked together. There are also plenty of options for creating your garden house according to your own taste. Consider in this regard a glass roof panel to allow more daylight in or an extra-wide door to make the kota wheelchair-accessible. The possibilities are endless!

Differences and similarities

Both the Finnish Kotas from our own TICRA Outdoor collection and those from WArt are made of pinewood. The Finnish Kotas from the TICRA Collection are made of Nordic pinewood and the WArt kotas are made of Arctic pinewood. Both types of pinewood are sourced from sustainably managed forests in Northern Europe, with Arctic pinewood coming from forests managed above the Arctic Circle. The trees there grow slowly due to the cold climate. The slow growth process ensures that the wood's growth rings are closer together. The closer the growth rings are to each other, the harder the wood is.

Other differences between the two Finnish Kota brands relate to the finishes and the extra products included. We'll list what the Kotas include to make your choice easier.
