The kotas from TICRA and WArt that we supply are made of sustainable pinewood. The Finnish Kotas from the TICRA Collection are made of Nordic pinewood and the WArt kotas are made of Arctic pinewood. Both types of pinewood are sourced from sustainably managed forests in Northern Europe, with Arctic pinewood coming from forests managed above the Arctic Circle. The trees there grow slowly due to the cold climate. The slow growth process ensures that the wood's growth rings are closer together. The closer the growth rings are to each other, the harder the wood is.
The Finnish Kotas from WArt and TICRA Outdoor are made of thick wood. This increases not only structural strength and lifespan but also insulation value. Which keeps the heat inside and the cold outside.

We recommend treating the exterior of your Finnish Kota upon installation with a high-quality stain from the Finnish brand Tikkurila. You can choose either a transparent or opaque woodstain. This allows you to preserve the natural wood colour or give your Kota a completely unique look.

The interior of the Kota can be treated with a Tikkurila floor oil if you wish. This floor oil was initially developed for saunas, though it's also well suited for use on the Finnish Kota due to its properties. It protects wood from moisture and dirt and reduces cracking in the wooden surface. The wood oil provides a dirt- and water-repellent surface for floors.
