Another eye-catching sauna in the TICRA collection is the barrel sauna made of Thermowood. A Thermowood outdoor sauna has undergone thermal treatment. This treatment entails the wood being heated to approximately 230°C, a process that removes sugars, carbohydrates and resins from the wood. One major advantage of this is that there is no longer any food available for insects and moulds. This significantly increases the lifespan of our Thermowood outdoor saunas.

In addition to the beautiful colour, the smell of White Cedar wood is exceedingly pleasant. You’ll catch the authentic scent of nature in your own outdoor sauna. If you want to keep the original colour, the best thing to do would be to treat the White Cedar sauna with Osmo wood oil or a transparent woodstain once or twice a year.

White Cedar Barrel Sauna

Out of all the varieties of wood that are available in the world for producing saunas, red cedar is the absolute cream of the crop. With its beautiful, distinctive reddish hue and beautiful scent, this wood will captivate many a sauna user. This material from Western Canada even has a great lifespan if left untreated. Our saunas made of red cedar wood are part of the Dundalk collection and are manufactured in Canada to the highest standards of quality. The wood can be treated with oil or woodstain, though can also be left to age. In the case of the latter, the sauna will develop a light grey shade but remain in excellent condition for decades, with no need to treat the wood. To maintain the original wood colour, you can also treat the barrel sauna with Osmo wood oil 1-2 times a year.
