UV Protection Oil transparent for Red Cedar Wood | Osmo

Osmo UV Protection Oil can be used in two ways. Firstly, the product can be used as a complete finish. This entails applying two coats of the UV protection oil. This can be two coats of colourless 420 or one coat of colour can be chosen and the second coat can be the colourless 420 variant. The latter will allow you to touch it up colourlessly in the future without creating any difference in colour. When choosing to apply a coloured product as the first coat, a colourless coat should always be applied as the second coat. Applying two coloured coats is not recommended.

Secondly, the product is primarily used as a finish on wood that is pre-coloured or has had some other form of treatment, which could be differently coloured Osmo finishes. In contrast to untreated wood, the product has a UV protection factor of 12, which will significantly extend the life of the surface and slow down the ageing process. The UV Protection Oil comes in several colours which are related to the colours of the different types of wood after which they have been named (i.e. these colours aren’t solely intended for the types of wood after which they are named). The UV Protection Oil 420 Colourless doesn’t contain any colour pigments and thus emphasises the colour of the wood. The 429 Natural is only recommended on light wood types, as this variant contains a white pigment in the product On dark surfaces, the 429 tends to create a white haze. Always do a test first to see whether the product gives the desired effect.
